The capacity of the factory is 15,000 kg
of green leaf per day where it is geared
to both leafy and Rotovane type of
manufacturing process. The factory could
handle an estimated crop of 4 million kg
of green leaf per annum, which is
expected to manufacture approximately
940,000 kg of made tea.
The very highest quality teas would be
made in special seasons. Brookside, due
to its location has the ability to make
use of both Nuwara Eliya and Uva high
seasons as it borders both seasons. In
addition to the seasonal factors,
Brooksrange Plantations has ntroduced low
country manufacturing using Nuwara Eliya
tea to appeal to a high end niche
segment while also having the ability to
produce the Nuwara Eliya Champaign tea.
The workforce
at the estate is approximately 619 employees
consisting of 187
males and 432 females. The
estate is the central housing for
workers, supervisors and others in all 4
divisions.
